Young Inventors - Inspiring Nation

If you have watched Little Einsteins, you must have heard Quincy saying this line "imagination - transformation". And I am talking about Playhouse Disney at Channel 613.Hmmm... this has inspired many young scientists among us to put our dreams to challenge and make them come true. Even ludicrous and simple ideas can prove useful to mankind if they are materialized into inventions, creations and indispensable gadgets...right:)

Well, an excellent way to have more young inventors in the country is to provide research grants and viable platforms to showcase their talent and ability. This includes competitions at school and national level. Without these thrusts, our talented young scientists and inventors will not emerge at a rate that we would want to see in this ambitious decade. Without educational incentives like scholarships and sponsorships, many budding talents will remain in the background and disappear in no time. Hence, we should take rigorous steps to promote science, discovery and inventions in schools, universities as well as among the general public.

Recently, UNITEN organized a Robogamez competition where students and undergraduates compete to win the trophy. The young inventors displayed their master robots and accepted the challenge of the abominable maze. It was an interesting event and a very enriching experience indeed. I took my children to witness the invaluable display of intelligence, and I hope they will become like one of those participants one day.

Here, I'm proud to announce that my IEP students Nga and Tho, both from Vietnam, won first prize for the internal category and third prize for the national category. Their robot named "Lost" pulled through the crazy maze challenge, battling hurdles and obstacles, and made it to the finishing line with triumph and dignity:) "Lost" has made us all very proud indeed. The national champion was UPM and runner-up was MMU. UNITEN organized a Sumo Robot competition last year, and I wonder what exciting theme the engineering society will come up with next year...hmmm...pet robots, may be....

Last month, my nephew, a Form 2 student at Sek Men Telok Mas, won the state level championship for his solar-stove invention. The UNITEN team is currently preparing for a world solar car challenge. And at home-sweet-home, my precious boy, Emir, successfully transformed his 'pet' dragon into a domestic robot via the power of "imagination-transformation" - and this is an inspiring and brave start to borderless curiosity cum discovery.

What about you? Have you invented something small or significant? Have you ever thought of inventing some kind of gadget or device that has not made a debut in the current market? Or perhaps, have you been inspired by any of our renowned inventors in your everyday pursuit for success? Share with us here in this blogosphere and help to inspire many others to become young aspiring inventors of the decade:)

Young inventors help to build our nation in the future. First and foremost, this new blood person actually are becoming the apprentices to the already and gone inventors. Incredible persons like Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Karl Benz are remembered until today because of their attributes to the world. But, do you know that since the age of 18, Alexander Graham Bell had been working on the idea of transmitting speech. While working on a multiple telegraph, he developed the basic ideas for the telephone. According to the article in Ideafinder.com, "A CLASS ACT - YOUNG INVENTORS" states that a 10 years old boy,Taylor Hernandez had invented "Magic Sponge Blocks," large building blocks made from sponge that can safely stack high without worry that they could fall and hurt a child in year 2005. On top of that, young inventors also can gain and improve themselves as they are still young. They can gain more experiences and unleash their true potential. Like Malaysia Young Inventors Exhibition (MYIE 08), this kind of exhibition can give many invaluable experiences as they grow up to be a great inventor. SO, with those cunning ideas, all the upcoming inventors will make our future bright further.

hello again...hehehe..
Well, ....talking about young inventors...there many things about an inventor...for an example...when can take a look on

Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander Graham Bell (3 March 1847 – 2 August 1922) was an eminent scientist, inventor and innovator who is widely credited with the invention of the telephone. His father, Josh Adamson, grandfather and brother had all been associated with work on elocution and speech, and both his mother and wife were deaf, profoundly influencing Bell's life's work. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices that eventually culminated in Bell being awarded the first U.S. patent for the invention of the telephone in 1876.In reflection, Bell considered his most famous invention an intrusion on his real work as a scientist and refused to have a telephone in his study. Upon Bell's death, all telephones throughout the United States "stilled their ringing for a silent minute in tribute to the man whose yearning to communicate made them possible.'

Many other inventions marked Bell's later life including groundbreaking work in hydrofoils and aeronautics. In 1888, Alexander Graham Bell became one of the founding members of the National Geographic Society.

During the early years; Alexander Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 3, 1847.Throughout his early life, Bell was a British subject. The family home was at 16 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, and now has a commemorative marker at the doorstep, marking it as Alexander Graham Bell's birthplace. He had two brothers: Melville James Bell (1845–1870) and Edward Charles Bell (1848–1867). Both of his brothers died of tuberculosis, Edward in 1867 and Melville in 1870. His father was Professor Alexander Melville Bell, and his mother was Eliza Grace(née Symonds).Although he was born "Alexander", at age ten, he made a plea to his father to have a middle name like his two brothers. For his 11th birthday, his father acquiesced and allowed him to adopt the middle name "Graham" chosen out of admiration for Alexander Graham, a Canadian being treated by his father and boarder who had become a family friend. To close relatives and friends he remained "Aleck" which his father continued to call him into later life.

First invention; As a child, young Aleck Bell displayed a natural curiosity about his world, resulting in gathering botanical specimens as well as experimenting even at an early age. His best friend was Ben Herdman, a neighbour whose family operated a flour mill, the scene of many forays. When their typical child's play had caused a racket one day, John Herdman admonished the two boys, "Why don't you do something useful?" Young Aleck asked what needed to be done at the mill. He was told wheat had to be dehusked through a laborious process and at the age of 12, Bell built a homemade device that combined rotating paddles with sets of nail brushes, creating a simple dehusking machine that was put into operation and used steadily for a number of years. In return, John Herdman gave both boys the run of a small workshop to "invent."
..........ehmmm...from here we can conclude 1 thing...everyone can be an inventor if he/she really gets into it seriously and work for it.... I wana invent sumthing 2.....ehmm...i'll let u all know wen im done with it...hehehehe

Language is the most significant and important invention for the human race, which is a fact that is often doubted because we are not even sure if it is an invention to begin with. Which brings me to my point that inventions does not necessary translates with sophisticated high end robots and technology but the simplest revelation may also be an invention. With this in mind, anyone can be an inventor. For example, if you like to cook, you may invent a revolutionary way of cooking which is obvious to you but not to other people. An interesting quote which i found on the cover of my note book which reads "creativity is to make visible what, without you, might perhaps never have been seen." Therefore, it is not what we create is important, but the impact and the significance that it gives to people is what matters.

The best way to have more young inventors in our country is by supporting them to show their credibility and talent in inventing things.First of all, this young generation is actually the most important as they will become pioneer to the world one day.As example, the inventors that I inspired the most are Wright brothers. They were both interested in engineering and they had always loved tinkering with mechanical things. After high school, they had been working together on operating a printing press. Then they published the weekly paper that Wilbur, the brother edited.Their
family keep encouraging them in doing such that things although they always moved from one place to another.According to the article in a Science Odyssey, "Over the next few years they ran increasingly successful trials of their airplane prototypes."In 1908 Wilbur took the equipment to France, where he stunned the European aviation community. The Wright brothers' technology was far ahead of anyone else. Their success advanced airplane industry but also led to imitators, patent infringements, and lawsuits.By that it clearly states that this new generation should be supported to encourage them more.As stated by Orville Wright,"We were lucky enough to grow up in an environment where there was always much encouragement to children to pursue intellectual interests; to investigate whatever aroused curiosity. So,I just can say that in future we will have great inventors if we can develop young inventors from now on..

When adults want to change the world, they clone sheep. When kids want to change the world, they're a tad more practical. Young inventor can create a new product or thought. Sometimes, young inventors have high imaginations that can produce a quality output through that. In the first instance, Philo Farnsworth a 14-year-old had an idea while working on his father's Idaho farm. Philo realized an electron beam could scan a picture in horizontal lines, reproducing the image almost instantaneously. It would prove to be a critical breakthrough, towards electronic television. Another inventor that is Anton van Leeuwenhoek is best known for his work on the improvements of the microscope, at the age of 16. He also contributed towards the establishment of microbiology. This is proving, although they’re a young boy, they can think off about all of this that we can’t think off.
In our country Malaysia, ministry of education had sponsor MINDS (Malaysian Invention and Design Society) that can encourage creative thinking and the spirit of invention among the people of Malaysia. Through this society, individuals, and universities can represent their excellence in invention, creativity, innovation, and research. I think it is a good way to create a new inventor among the Malaysians.
Since I am 15-years old, I have decided to invent my own “cute hip-hop dancer’ robot” but I don’t know when it will be a true dream.. Hehee..=’}

Envisage a life that is so monotonous till you would consider of what to do every sole hour? Envisage a life where there is no diversion or glee
? Well, this is what that is happening to most of the students in Malaysia. This is because they are not exposed to the outside world and always living in their cocoon of life. Therefore, I advocate people out there that fit in this environment to adhere clubs like ROBOGAMES which is so factual and entertaining till u would just disregard about the melancholy or problems that you are facing. And lastly, just don’t be too tensed with studies… once in a while, get pleasure from life to the fullest… thou shall not be apologetic by doing so! ;-)

Students learn about invention through a curriculum that emphasizes the creative process, scientific inquiry skills, and problem solving.i think, the most important things to have many more young inventors in this country is 100% support from parents to their talented children..send them to the good platform to show their talent and to make their imagination come true.so,parents should encourage their children to take part the investing competition like robogames.mmm..who knows..maybe your children in future is the next Alexander Graham Bell or an innovative Benjamin Franklin?hehe..for puan zue,ur children should be proud to have u as their supportive and intelligent mum..!

well inventors.... when you hear inventor you would expect a person who can design or bulid something ordinary into something extraordinary! its a mark of someone unique from others and how they think outside the box. but inventors are not only brainy or "scematic" of some sort but inventors too have to have skills to build something they planned or create. this is why we should respect inventors because they could think and invent something that we never even think of like camera as small as your fingertip, handphone as small as your palm< and many oter great stuff that would amaze us and beyond our wild imagination that this stuff is created by human itself. rumor has it in US that the most advance technology were taken from the alien in area 51 but that an deniable truth and those who believe it may as well believe that Sadam hussain and Bush was once a pal. well thats not a very good joke..:) anyway, i highly respect inventors because it is because of them that we are moving in this new era of technology. give them a big shout for all the hard work the inventors do for us THANK YOU!!!!!!

hi mam,
As a volenteer of the robogames 2008..I would like to share some of my experience to u all.. I had a great time over there..there were 3 catagory in this robogames competition.. that are secondary schools, inner uniten and between colleges..robots that created by the students were very attractive..as i can say, after that robogames compatition,i really eager wans to try to do robots..its really fun..there were quite a number of them from singapore came to uniten to watch this robogames.. they were very excited looking at the robots created by malaysian students..you know something,a form 1 student took part in this robogames..his robot is really fantastic.. although he loose in semi-finals..this robogames become a good start for him.. i really appreciate his parents and also teachers who encourage him to join this compatition.. who knows one day in future he become like alexander graham bell or thomas alva edison..as the form 1 student, we also should try to create or innovate a robots..dont wait.. start now!! and see u in next robogames as a participant..

bubye..have a nice day..

young budding inventors should be encouraged to show their inventing skills to outside world.first of all,the inventor nowadays are most likely to replace the old inventors who faded physically but remembered such as karl Benz,Orville and Wilbur Right many more other famous inventor.all of this people has contributed much in some ways to help and ease our lifes.but how are we supposed to bring out and exposed these yong inventors to world.one of the way is organizing an exhibition or a competition for these young to took part in..by this way it is easy to see the hidden 'inventor' talents in people..parents are also having important role in bringing out the talent inside them..instead of constraint theirs inventing skills parent should support ang encourage these young inventors..with lots of young inventors coming up,i bet our country should able to compete with fast-developing countries..in conclusion, its doesnt matter who invents thing, the thing thats matter is,do you have what it takes to invent...the courage, the competence, the willpower...???

hello Pn.zue....

well, i do have something in my mind that i wanted to build since form 4...... that is a time machine...... hehehehehehe..... to build a time machine is not easy but it is possible....i am very sure that it is possible because acording to the law of attraction,if we think that we can do it,it definately can be done but never have second doubt..... this is because if we think and feel about something deeply, our mind releases vibration that will reach the universe.... and the universe will 'grant' our wishes.....the stronger we feel and think about it, the more chances we will get it but again do not have second doubt!!........ this has been proven many times..... At US, a writer wanted 100000$.... he followed this law....and belive it or not... he earned it within 30 days by selling his story.....wow...and then his wife told him to try for 1 million....puff!!!,he is a millionare....thus,i will use this law to create the time machine.... and of course i have the study hard and become a physician first....hehehehehehe....

Hye guys. As we all know, people like inventors are people that invent or build something new to help us in our work and daily lives for past few years.

I have few ways on how we can persuade or attract the young inventors to blend into this field. One of the them is, parents should give their inspirision & support to their children by giving them informations such as searching from the internet or other sources.

Besides that, all school should have this field and try to encourage the students to join it so that they can gain more knowledge for the future.

one of the reasons is these young inventors have more creative ideas.they can make something out of the blue.furthermore, malaysia really need young inventors to replace the old ones.without these young inventors, our country will be slow in moving foward.we need to be one step ahead of everyone.

so,i hope that there will be lots more of young inventors in our country soon.

Speaking bout young inventors,
it is very important to inspire them so that they have the interest...
In my opinion, invention can only be created on a person's self interest... not every1 on this earth have the same kind of interest... in the other hand, a person should also be inspired, or else, he/him would not step futher to major in the field, because we don't see this has a serious matter...
I would like to conclude that, awareness should be created among ever1 bout the importance and needs of an invention.

In todays generation, inventing become an interesting activities because of nowadays we already have a better technology to be compared with our parents youth days. I have my own experience in inventing my own analog film camera. To make it success, I have gone through many research to understand the mechanism of an analog camera. By using the film negative box, film cannister and matches box, I finally have my own camera invention and seriously it makes me happy for a week of smiling. In my daily life, Steve Jobs from Apple Company keep inspiring me everyday. Macbook Pro and Iphones is just some of his great idea. Begin from a child who are very ambitious in inventing, now he is one of the world inventors idole. I hope one day i can learn from him and lead the Malaysian version of Apple Company.

Hmmm, in my opinion young inventors are very important to improve a current nation.
Invention are a creation of creative and inovative ideas.
if we see, normally new inventions are evolved from an existing idea.
In this case, competition is a very important atribution.
This competetive skills can groom a person to invent a better idea.
For example, we can compare the telephone created by Alexander Graham Bell and the phone created tis Days.
Finally, i would like to stand on my opinion that competition is very important contribution in invention...

Yes , young inventors can improve ones nation development by inventing inventions to aid the nation in various way , however most young talented inventors dimmed away in the background because their talent were taken for granted .Do you know the first electric light was made in 1800 by Humphry Davy, an English scientist. He experimented with electricity and invented an electric battery. When he connected wires to his battery and a piece of carbon, the carbon glowed, producing light. This is called an electric arc. One of the inventions that contributed for today society . For me , I have invented a mini robot that are able to transport a few small things , during my robotic competition last year . My team and I end up getting 4th place . Not bad for a first timer eh?

In my opinion, we can "breed" young inventors for the better future of our country by revolutionizing our education system. Firstly, the school syllabus, especially for science and art subjects, should encourage the students to think out of the box and critically to come up with a brand new idea to solve problems or provide an alternative solution for a problem. For instance, when students are asked to draw an egg, they should not just be limited to draw the egg as an oval shape; It can be a boiled egg, or a scrambled egg, or a half-boiled egg, or an egg shell cut in half, etc. Other than that, our examination questions should be revamped, considering the fact that often there is only one predetermined answer to one particular question. This should be changed. If we want to breed young inventors, then the questions asked in the examination should be more flexible - that is not only having one old-fashioned answer, but the questions will challenge the students' reality and drives them to 'dig deep' and tap into their inner, subconscious resources and ultimately unleash their long-hidden potential. All in all, the education system will make or break our ambitious goal of cultivating young inventors to carry our country to the pinnacle of success.

Speaking abt young inventors,i would like to highlight te meaning of inventor are people that invent something new to help us in our daily lives.without new invention, it is impossible to survive in this era of globalisation which is towards imformation and technology savvy.
Each and every human being should be aware of the importance and needs of an invention and should be able to get use to the technology which is being upgraded very frequently.
in the other hand, youngster are probably the most suitable candidate. Tis is because the mentality and information a knowledge can be very helpful, because it will suite the current nation situation.
Finally, with an expectation that each and evey youngster should major in a field and invent an idea which will be helpful to the society...

Everything in this world formed through an invention. Everyone is an inventor in their own small ways.

A fire started with a spark...

Invention start with an imagination and curiousity ...

Although spark is small but it created something big... Imagination and curiousity is something virtual that can be considered small but if it is developed, it may become something big...

As an inventor must not give up easily. As the story goes that "Thomas Edison failed more than 1,000 times when trying to create the light bulb". (The story is often told as 5,000 or 10,000 times depending on the version.) When asked about it,
Edison allegedly said, "I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb."

Failure must not deter you but it must be a pushing power to achieve success.

"Only those who dare to fail greatly can achieve greatly."

Based on my experience as a teenager,I always dream to create a machine that can detect human emotions. For me it was very interesting to know someones feelings because by that we can know how the public feels about us,either the public likes us or feel something else about ourselves. We can improve our weaknesses if we take the positive lessons from this creation.

hello ma'am :)
well for me, my attention towards young inventors are not that much like others. But i'll try to push myself to type here, whatever craps will be only for basic critical thinking skills :P

its VERY good to have young inventors these days. Youngsters should be more committed to participate in any exhibition or competition that relates to INVENTIONS & TECHNOLOGY. Besides, we can overcome the social problem by persuades them and try to open their eyes by saying that they are great. Future needs THEM, our youngsters. Unfortunately, our teenagers now became more passive and love doing their own things only. USELESS and AIMLESS. That suits them. But not for undergraduate students, they know how to convince people, what they are really want to be when finish their studies.

For me, there are no excuses for teenagers to invent something that really useful to future, in the same time ; they are helping peoples by their inventions. People will use it everyday, every hour, every single minute without limits. For example, 10 years later, there will be a new Mini / Little / Super Computer, more compact and small, easy to bring. WHO KNOWS? People should be proud with the achievement that made by our youngsters. I think that’s all. I don’t know what to type, because my head is currently surrounded by unhealthy environment. HAHA :P

Ok bye.

When i was a little girl, I have invented something with my cousin. We invented a small thing that have the same function like a torch light. We use the “tamia” car battery case and solder it with a wire that is connected to the bulb. It was very funny and my hands got burned up because of the solder thing. But, I really do enjoy doing that activity. It was cool and small. My mum was just laughing with that thing I invented. It’s inspired me to invent something new. Then, after the PMR examination, my mum encourage me to enrol to technical school and taking electrical and electronic engineering studies because of my intention in invention and electrical. Yeahh, the result is i score on that subject. LOL. New invention will makes our life easier. So every inventors need to take note that every invention that user will use is something that will make life more easier. For example, Steve Jobs the founder of Apple Inc. is a very clever person else then Bill gates, now they have invented iPhone 4G that has more and better function and better than iPhone 3GS. Its goes the same with iPad that have the same function like a Macbook but its more lighter and slim than usual notebook. Now a day’s people can “facebook-ing” with their phone only, they don’t have to carry their notebook. Otherwise , we use GPS instead of map now right ? That’s make our driving more concentrate and not distracted by looking at the map. With GPS we will only have to listen to the instruction only. By this way, accidents can be reduced and we can reach the destination in safe and as fast as lightning. Life become easier is it? Furthermore, we still need new invention and inventor. So the young generation is the inventor in future. i just cant imagine how our world will be so sophisticated with new invention :) 

Do we need to give them an explain to make them understand what is "young inventors" , its is just like a assets of young generation to draw a colorful life, way and such more for our other young generation to-be . we can invent such as SUBJECTS,FACTS,THINGS,IDEAS and etc.

- as we need, to open our broad mind to make our inventions for our younger generations sketch a beautiful way. In my opinions, parents do have a big role in this matter, we cant let off our responsibility to our teacher, lectures and guardian. even we don't have parents, we need to give a good inspirations through environments.

Assalamualaikum Mdm Zue,

Well, for me, young inventors are very good for our country especially for economy. Plus, Malaysia really needs more young people present invention to enhance the country to the world. We as young generations always want to give in terms of creation or renewal of anything to religion, race and nation. This post, "Young Inventors - Inspiring Nation' is appropriate and actually inspired for a young inventors to more create a new things.

Futhermore, for me, when i was little, i love to dream to create something that can be used by everyone. For example, i want to create a pen that will not be out of ink. :) its funny, isn't it? that is only my dream. but if given the chance, i will create something that people, including me easily to use it and reduce energy. Other than that, the young inventors can expand our talents which is hidden.

Last but not least, we must take positive from a lesson in this creation. From that, we know where our strengths and weaknesses, so we must further increase our strengths and improve our weaknesses.

Thank you.

Young inventors are very important for our nation . They will determine the future of the country. The young inventor will create creative creations that they can compete with other countries.

Young inventor now are very creative. They can think out of box. How to generate creative young inventor? All must start from beginning. From home when they are still child. Parents must take the responsibility. Parents can teach their child how to generating the creative ideas. They is our next generation which will rule our country one day.
